Moving on a few years I now have the John Deere and a much newer looking Lawnbug!

Rebuild

After racing for a season on an already un-tidy mower we thought it could do with a re-build. We want to strip the mower, clean, re-paint, re-make the A-frame, and look into a bike clutch. Check back during the winter months for progress on our re-build.

Well we started the rebuild! The mower has been stripped. Engine removed, front steering removed, A-Frame removed, front and rear panels removed. Cutting deck removed, and the T-Drive and axle are off.

The front panel has been straightened and welded and after a bit of sand blasting should be ready for a bit of paint - but that won't be for a while!

This evening we decided to open up the T-Drive to make sure it was ok and also see how the T-Drive was made up so when we got the new one we knew what needed doing.

Where it began...

My mower was bought from Matt Owen (No. 28) in May 2003. When we looked at the mower we knew it would need a bit of work, but that's what we wanted. It was originally built by Matt and Colin Fox and appeared to be a well built and strong machine, if a little neglected. It's a Westwood Lawnbug, and when we bought it was running a 8bhp Tecumseh engine, a simple clutch system and cable brakes.

Here are a few pics of our mower (Looking rather sad!)
